Sustainable by Nature, Built for the Water

How BARE wetsuits are leading the way with eco-conscious materials

This Earth Day, we’re taking a closer look at what goes into your BARE wetsuit—and how small design choices can make a big impact on the planet we all love to explore.

Unlike traditional wetsuits made with petroleum-based neoprene, our full line of BARE wetsuits is crafted using a cleaner alternative: limestone-based foam. This material minimizes pollution during production and still delivers everything you need in the water—better insulation, more stretch and comfort, a lighter feel, and long-lasting durability.

But sustainable performance isn’t just about what’s inside your wetsuit. It’s also about how it’s made.

Instead of solvent-based adhesives, which release harmful toxins into the air during production, BARE uses a water-based glue that’s just as strong and built to last. It spares the environment from harsh chemicals without compromising on performance—even after repeated dives. While not used in every model, including the Revel and Elate, water-based glue is featured in several of our premium suits to further our commitment to cleaner manufacturing.

We’ve also removed PFCs from our materials. PFC-Free finishes help keep toxins out of waterways while maintaining the function and durability of your gear. And when it comes to packaging, your wetsuit ships in biodegradable PLA bags—plant-based and designed to break down naturally, not linger in landfills.

You’ll find these sustainable upgrades throughout our entire wetsuit collection:
For men:Reactive, Velocity Ultra, and Revel
For women:Evoke, Nixie Ultra, and Elate

As divers, we have a front-row seat to the beauty of the ocean—and a responsibility to protect it. That’s why BARE is committed to making choices that reduce our environmental footprint without sacrificing performance.

This Earth Day, dive in with purpose. Dive with BARE.
